(She/Her)

Kathryn Mullen supports the mission of the Women’s Fund South Coast as the Research and Community Engagement Fellow, where she helps manage the SEED initiative and Strengthening Voices. In this role, she is committed to listening to and learning from her community through various events aimed at advancing racial, gender, and economic equity.

In her youth, Kathryn was an avid supporter of furthering women’s voices through programs such as the Youth Network Activism Club (YNET) and the Greenwich Women’s Varsity Rugby Team. As a member of YNET, she connected with her peers to teach the importance of healthy relationships and how to prevent dating violence – an issue she is incredibly dedicated to. A fierce advocate of women’s sports, Kathryn created the official website and managed various social platforms for the women’s rugby team. This exposure allowed for the expansion of said sport throughout Fairfield County, CT, ranging from independent clubs to official high school varsity teams.

Kathryn continued her education at the University of Rhode Island and graduated magna cum laude in May of 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics. Her studies were concentrated at the intersection of math and government, where she was able to learn more about research and advocacy both quantitatively and qualitatively. She was an active member of the school throughout her four years and took part in the Economics Students’ Association (ESA), the National Society of Leadership and Success, the National Honor Society, and the Sociology “Iron Cage Society” Club. She became an undergraduate teaching assistant to a 350-student introductory Economics course, which proved to be an invaluable experience. She learned firsthand the importance of allowing students to process information through their own lenses and experiences, so that we can all come to an understanding.

Following her graduation, she worked at the Massachusetts House of Representatives in Rep. Cabral’s office (13th Bristol District) as a legislative intern, where she took part in the bill-making process and learned how policy decisions affect local communities’ everyday lives. In this new chapter, she is excited to contribute to the Women’s Fund and gain knowledge from an incredibly intelligent group of people.
