The Women’s Fund SouthCoast (WFSC) is a public foundation advancing gender, racial, and economic justice across the SouthCoast region of Massachusetts.
For more than 25 years, we have mobilized philanthropic capital, community expertise, and policy influence to address the structural conditions shaping women’s lives.
We are proudly place-based and community-rooted. Our work begins locally — grounded in the realities of the SouthCoast — and extends outward through statewide collaboration and national thought leadership.
We exist because inequity persists — in wages, safety, healthcare access, political representation, and leadership opportunity. These disparities are systemic. WFSC was created to confront root causes and move resources, research, and influence toward lasting change.
Our Role in the Region — and Beyond
WFSC is the SouthCoast’s dedicated women’s fund.
We operate at the intersection of research, strategic grantmaking, and advocacy — connecting data to funding, funding to strategy, and strategy to long-term systems change.
While our grantmaking is locally focused, our partnerships extend across Massachusetts and into national philanthropic and policy networks. We contribute to statewide initiatives, inform broader conversations on gender and racial equity, and collaborate with peers across the country to advance collective progress.
As both a funder and a convener, we bring together donors, grassroots leaders, policymakers, researchers, and young people to shape solutions that are locally grounded and regionally and nationally relevant.
Our Mission
The Women’s Fund SouthCoast advances gender, racial, and economic justice through community-driven research, strategic grantmaking, and advocacy.
Our values guide us:
Equity

Courage
Our Vision
We envision a SouthCoast where women, girls, and gender-expansive people of all races and backgrounds have equitable access to resources, opportunity, safety, and leadership — and where the systems shaping daily life reflect dignity and justice.
Strong local leadership strengthens statewide progress and contributes to national movements for equity.
How We Work
Our approach is intentional, collaborative, and long-term.
We center community expertise.
Those closest to inequity inform our priorities, partnerships, and investments.
We invest strategically.
Our grantmaking supports women-led and community-rooted organizations expanding economic mobility, safety, health access, leadership development, and opportunity.
We translate knowledge into action.
Through research and policy engagement, we elevate community voice and inform decisions that affect women and families — locally and beyond.
We build power across generations.
By cultivating emerging leaders and strengthening cross-sector collaboration, we ensure that change is sustained over time.
Looking Forward
As we enter our next chapter, WFSC is deepening research capacity, strengthening partnerships, expanding philanthropic investment, and increasing regional impact — while continuing to contribute to statewide and national conversations on gender and racial justice.
We remain committed to bold, community-informed solutions that create measurable change — not only for today, but for generations to come.
